Vian wrestlers do well in Christmas weekend tournaments

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

Several Vian Wrestling Club members did well in two Christmas weekend tournaments — with two of them placing in both events.

In the 88-pound weight class in the girls age 10-andyounger division, Joely Hunt was the champion in the Saturday’s Brushy Christmas Brawl and runner-up at the Oologah Ringer Classic last Friday.

The other member to place in both events was Kody Perry. He was second in the age 10-and-under novice division at 90 pounds in the Oologah Ringer Classic and was fourth in the age 10-and-younger division at 90 pounds in the Brushy Christmas Brawl.

Three other members placed in last Friday’s Oologah Ringer Classic. Cara Prock (girls age 12-and-younger division, 98 pounds) and Carissa Prock (girls age 15-and-younger, 126 pounds) were runners-up, while Laken Pack was third at 76 pounds in the novice age 10-and-younger division.

At the Brushy Christmas Brawl, seven members all won championships — Luke Sandlin (age 6-and-younger division, 49 pounds), Bronc Sumpter (age 10-and-younger, 90), Creede Prier (age 10-andyounger, 73), Charles Lucas (age 15-and-younger, 92), Daxton Stewart (age 10-andyounger, 70), Madalynn Turman (girls age 8-andyounger, 75) and Anders Gilbreath (age 8-and-younger, 61).

Reid Locust (age 8-andyounger division, 70 pounds), Kolton Drew (age 12-andyounger, 64-67), Keaton Gregory (age 6-and-younger, 49), Harlea Lucas (girls age 8-and-younger, 58), Harper Lindsey (girls age 6-andyounger, 52), Clayton Thomas (age 15-and-younger, 112), Kalvin Andrade (age 12-and- younger, 100), Rocky Ford (age 10-andyounger, 100), Zayn Vinson (age 10-andyounger, 64) and Carlos Rautenberg (age 15-and-younger, 106) were all runners-up in their respective weight classes.

Placing third were Thomas Sandlin (age 6-and-younger division, 52 pounds), Cale Winans (age 10-and-younger, 76) and Nolan Thomas (age 6-and-younger, 60), while Caitlin Prock (girls age 8-and-younger, 83), Kayden Perceful (age 6-and-younger, 60), Cain Winans (age 12-andyounger, 92), Asher Stewart (age 6-andyounger, 43) and Zandr Fuller (age 10-andyounger, 61-64) placed fourth.
