Authorities searching for Rowell

Vian Police Chief Mark Harkins said authorities are currently searching for a Vian man who has an outstanding warrant for his arrest in LeFlore County.

Billy D. Rowell, 66, is wanted on a charge of attempted grand larceny from an incident that reportedly occurred in December 2022, according to court records. Rowell was arrested by an officer with the Poteau Police Department and his charges were filed on Dec. 7, 2022.

A bench warrant was then issued for his arrest on Oct. 10, 2023, in the amount of $10,000 and a file request was placed on Nov. 13, 2023, to place Rowell with the National Crime Information Center. “ Sequoyah County’s Probation and Parole is seeking a warrant for absconding as he (Rowell) has not been in contact with them in quite some time,” Harkins said. Harkins said Rowell has family in the Vian area and has reportedly been seen in Vian recently, driving a white Chevrolet pickup.

“While our intentions are not to embarrass any family members, they should be made aware of his warrants,” Harkins said. “And, if anyone is harboring or assisting in preventing his apprehension, they are also committing a felony and could face charges.”

If anyone has information regarding Rowell’s whereabouts, they are asked to contact the Vian Police Department or LeFlore County Sheriff’s Office.

“Any information in assisting authorities to apprehend Mr. Rowell would be greatly appreciated,” Harkins said.
