Sallisaw wrestlers crown 3 champions, place 6 at Cushing Tiger Invitational; Black Diamonds finish 5th as a team
CUSHING — The Sallisaw Black Diamonds wrestling team finished in fifth place at last weekend’s Cushing Tiger Invitational, and in the process crowned three champions and saw six total members place.
CUSHING — The Sallisaw Black Diamonds wrestling team finished in fifth place at last weekend’s Cushing Tiger Invitational, and in the process crowned three champions and saw six total members place.
As a team, the Black Diamonds scored 153 points to finish fifth, coming in behind team champion Sulphur (206 points), Blackwell (182), Chickasha (174.5) and Catoosa (156).
Three Black Diamonds won their respective weight class titles — Cason Craft at 106 pounds, Mattix Casebolt at 120 and Cole Mayfield at 150. Mayfield also was named the Outstanding Wrestler of the tournament.
Noah Flores was fourth at 215 pounds, Bodie Adams fifth at 165 and Caden Pollard at 190.
The Black Diamonds will return to action as they will participate in the twoday Catoosa Tournament at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday, then will participate in their Class 4A District Duals beginning at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Wagoner.
The Sallisaw junior high boys will compete in the two-day Wagoner Tournament at 9 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
