Sallisaw Takedown Club crowns 6 champions at Berryhill Battle for the Axe

TULSA — Six members of the Sallisaw Takedown Club won titles, or more precisely axes, at last Saturday’s Berryhill Battle for the Axe Tournament.

In the first of three sessions, Miles Sanders (40 pounds) and Lincoln Sanders (60) won axes as champions in the age open 6-and-younger division, while Miles was runner-up (46) and Lincoln third (58) in the age-8-and-younger division.

During the second session, Colton Patterson (80 pounds) and Hagan Compton (heavyweight) earned axes as their respective weight-class champions in the novice age 12-and younger division. Compton also was third at heavyweight in the open age 12-and-younger division.

In session No. 3, Clayton Warner (105 pounds, open age 8-and-younger division) and Jaxton Roth (120, open 12-and-younger) each earned an axe for being crowned a champion. Roth also was named one of the Outstanding Wrestlers of the tournament.

Ripken Eubanks (105 pounds to heavyweight) was runner-up and Eli Matlock (55) was third in the novice age 8-and-younger division, while Sara Lee (58-61) was second and Daxel Burkart (75) was third in the novice age 10-and-younger division. In the open age 8-and-younger division, Matlock (55 pounds) and Kole Knoke (105 to heavyweight) were each runners-up, while Waylon Giles was second at 85 pounds in the open age 10-and-younger division.

Blake Taylor was runner-up at 119 pounds in the open age 15-and-younger division.

In the novice age 12-and-younger division, Braxton Taylor (160 pounds) was third and Montana Eubanks (110) was fourth.
