Muldrow girls runners-up at Checotah Crossroads tourney; Bulldogs fall in consolation finals

CHECOTAH — The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs lost in the Checotah Crossroads Tournament finals 4026 to the Wagoner Lady Bulldogs on Saturday night at Checotah Event Center.

CHECOTAH — The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs lost in the Checotah Crossroads Tournament finals 4026 to the Wagoner Lady Bulldogs on Saturday night at Checotah Event Center.

The Lady Bulldogs reached the title game with a 41-17 romp over the Fort Gibson junior varsity Thursday afternoon at Truman Dixon Gymnasium, then defeated Keys 43-34 in the championship semifinals Friday night at Checotah Event Center.

The Bulldogs lost Saturday afternoon’s consolation finals 47-45 to the Stigler Panthers at Checotah Event Center.

The ‘Dogs opened with a 53-46 loss to Fair Grove on Thursday to see their three-game winning streak snapped, but they bounced back Friday with a 51-50 wini over McAlester in the consolation semifinals.

In the girls’ title game, Katelynn Moore led the Lady Bulldogs (125) with six points, followed by Kennedi “Kiki” Wight and Maysi Fields with five points each, Claire Tabor with four points and Cailey Grinstead and Makynlee Morton with three points each.

In the girls’ championship semifinals, Wight led Muldrow with 16 points, followed by Tabor and London Hardin with nine points each, Fields with four points, Grinstead with three points and Moore with two points.

In the girls’ opening-round game, Wight scored a game-high 17 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Moore and Fields with seven points each, Hardin with four points, Tabor and Kayla Ellingberg each with two points apiece.

In the boys’ consolation finals, Deshawn Wilson led the Bulldogs (9-8) with a game-high 12 points, followed by Kashan Bukhari with nine point, Parker Sevenstar with eight points, Drew Prewett with six points, Jaxson Anstine with five points, Jesse Kilinc with three points and Kenoy Releford with two points.

In the boys’ consolation semifinals, Sevenstar scored 19 points and Wilson added 14 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Bukhari and Prewett with seven points each, Anstine with three points and Releford with a free throw.

In the boys’ opening-round loss, Sevenstar scored a game-high 24 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Prewett with 10 points, Anstine with nine points, Wilson with two points and Bukhari with a free throw.
