WILBURTON — The Carl Albert State College Vikings baseball team outlasted the Eastern Oklahoma State College Mountaineers 15-11 Tuesday afternoon.
Trailing 5-0 after three innings, the Vikings (7-4) got on the board in the fourth inning on Lex Simon’s RBI single to make it 5-1.
After the Mountaineers scored twice in their half of the fourth inning for a 7-1 lead, the Vikings had a five-run fifth inning and a single run in the sixth inning to tie the game at 7-all after six innings.
After a four-run seventh inning regained the lead for the Mountaineers at 11-7, the Vikings got the come-frombehind win with a five-run eighth inning and a three-run ninth inning.
For the game, Eli Gilreath was 3-for-5 with three runs batted in and a run scored, Trey Migl was 2-for-6 with two RBIs and two runs scored, Rhen Rutledge was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored, Berrick Leu was 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs and Zach Burnes tripled with two RBIs and two runs scored.
Trenton Golden got the win in relief, going the final 2.2 innings with two strikeouts. Gilreath started and went the first three innings with four Ks, then Tanner Miullins went the next 3.1 innings with a strikeout.
The Vikings, who were slated to entertain Connors State College in a single nine-inning game Thursday afternoon at Mark Pollard Field in Poteau, will entertain the Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts in a doubleheader beginning at noon Saturday at Mark Pollard Field. Then, CASC will play a road doubleheader against Labette Community College beginning at noon Sunday in Parsons, Kan., before playing a single nine-inning game against Arkansas-Rich Mountain at 1 p.m. Tuesday.
