Where the Hurricane (14-13 overall, 5-10 American Athletic Conference play) turned it over just five times in the overtime win over Rice last week, Tulsa turned it over a season-high 22 times against the Shockers, leading to 29 points for the hosts. Tulsa suffered 13 firsthalf turnovers, which allowed Wichita State to score 17 points and build a sizable lead.
P.J. Haggerty continued to be Tulsa’s leading scorer with 23 points alongside seven rebounds, two assists and four steals. Tyshawn Archie joined Haggerty in double figures, scoring 14 points in addition to an assist and two steals. Isaiah Barnes added 10 points and had three steals. Colby Rogers and Kenny Pohto paced the Shockers on offense with 19 and 16 points, respectively.
On Saturday night, Jared Garcia scored a game-high 24 points as Tulsa came back from a doubledigit deficit for a 69-67 win over North Carolina-Charlotte in front of 3,341 fans at the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
Tulsa will be on the road for two straight games against Texas-San Antonio at 7 tonight and at 2 p.m. Saturday at Temple
