In Wednesday night’s win, Colin Brueggemann led the Pokes with a 3-for-4, four-RBI day at the plate and fell a home run shy of hitting for the cycle, while Avery Ortiz went 3-for-5 with a homer and two runs batted in.
Bryson Hudgens secured his first win of the season, working three shutout innings and striking out two. Ryan Bogusz started on the mound and struck out four over three innings while allowing two runs on four hits.
In Tuesday night’s loss, Tyler Wulfert led the way for the Cowboys offensively, going 2-for-5 with a home run and four RBIs, while Colin Brueggemann went 2-for-4 with a homer and drove in a pair of runs.
Aaron Weber took the loss on the mound for the Cowboys to fall to 1-1 as he allowed four runs on three hits in two innings of work. The right-hander struck out two and issued three walks.
The Cowboys (8-5) will return to action tonight when they open a threegame weekend series against Mercer at 6 p.m. at O’Brate Stadium.
