Vikings defeat University of the Ozarks
POTEAU — The Carl Albert State College Vikings baseball team picked up win No. 10 on the season with a 14-5 win over the University of the Ozarks on Tuesday afternoon at Mark Pollard Field.
POTEAU — The Carl Albert State College Vikings baseball team picked up win No. 10 on the season with a 14-5 win over the University of the Ozarks on Tuesday afternoon at Mark Pollard Field.
Trailing 5-3 in the sixth inning, the Vikings (10-9) erupted for five runs in the sixth inning and six runs in the eighth inning for a 14-5 lead going into the ninth inning.
For the game, Zach Burnes was 2-for-5 with two runs scored, Berrick Leu was 2-for-4 with two home runs, five runs batted in and two runs scored, Lex Simon was 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored, Carson Dunham was 2-for-4 with a run scored, Trey Migl doubled with four RBIs and a run scored and Rhen Rutledge homered with two runs scored and two RBIs.
Caleb Eakle got the win in relief, pitching two innings with three strikeouts. Jett Frazier started and went the first two innings with a strikeout. Cannon Farley went the third and fourth innings with two Ks. Gage Elliott pitched the seventh inning with two strikeouts, followed by Matthew Winters in the eighth inning with two Ks and Connor Vance in the ninth inning with a strikeout.
The Vikings will return to action with a three-game road series in Altus against Western Oklahoma State College. Game 1 is scheduled for 2 this afternoon, then concluding with a noon Saturday doubleheader. Then, CASC will play a noon Monday road twinbill against the Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts junior varsity in Edmond.
