Muldrow completes district sweep of Wagoner; Roland gets first win of season

The Muldrow baseball team completed the district sweep of Wagoner in a battle of Bulldogs on Tuesday evening with a 14-5 home win.

The Muldrow baseball team completed the district sweep of Wagoner in a battle of Bulldogs on Tuesday evening with a 14-5 home win.

After falling behind 2-0 in the opening inning, Muldrow’s Bulldogs (3-2 overall, 2-2 in district play) rallied to take the lead for good with a pair of four-run innings in the first two frames for an 8-2 lead after two innings. A three-run sixth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Reid Sutton, a Seminole State College signee, was 2-for-3 with three runs scored and two runs batted in, Jonah Claborn was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI and Drew Prewett doubled with two RBIs and scored once for the ’Dogs.

Colton Pulliam (1-0) got his first win of the season, going the first four innings with two strikeouts. Hayden McKinster went the final two innings with four Ks.

ROLAND 11, SPIRO 7

Tuesday at Roland, the Rangers (1-1 overall, 1-1 in district play) got their first win of the 2024 season.

Trailing 1-0 after two innings, Roland scored five runs in the third inning and three runs in the fourth to take the lead for good at 8-1 entering the fifth inning, then the Rangers had to hold off a sixth-inning rally by the Bulldogs.

For the game, Paden Pitts was 2-for-4 with a double, a home run, four runs batted in and two runs scored, Ashton Peters was 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Avery Moya was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored and Alex Brant doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Roland.

University of Arkansas signee Carson Wiggins (10) got the win, going the first four innings with 11 strikeouts. Pitts went the next two innings with a strikeout. Colton Peters finished things out in the seventh inning with two Ks.

GORE 8, KEOTA 0

Tuesday at Gore, Gore pitcher Tate Brooksher (2-0) got his second straight win in as many starts as he threw a two-hitter with 13 strikeouts.

The Pirates (3-3) scored twice in the first inning, once in the third inning and five runs in the fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Brooksher was 2-for-2 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored, while James Brasuel was 2-for-2 with a double, a solo homer and three runs scored for Gore.

OKTAHA 10, VIAN 0

Tuesday at Oktaha, the Wolverines (3-5) were twohit by Oktaha pitching as all Vian could muster was a double by Michael Polecat and a single by Stryker Fields.

The Tigers scored twice in the first inning, four runs in the second inning, once in the third inning and three runs in the fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

Lastyn Taylor (0-2) took the loss, going 3.2 innings with two strikeouts. Draighton Fletcher got the final out.

DEWAR 13, CENTRAL 5

Tuesday at Central, the Dragons rallied from a 3-2 deficit after four innings with a six-run fifth inning to take an 8-3 lead. After the Tigers (1-2) cut their deficit to 8-5 in their half of the fifth inning, Dewar put away the game with a run in the sixth inning and four runs in the seventh inning.

In defeat, Cade Tucker was 2-for-4 with a home run, two runs batted in and two runs scored for Central.

Bo Locust (0-1) took the loss, despite fanning six batters in 4.1 innings. Waylon Campbell went the final 2.2 innings with two Ks.
