Turnpike collision results in injuries
A two-vehicle collision on the Muskogee Turnpike on March 14, about seven miles south of Muskogee, has resulted in injuries to one of the occupants of one of the vehicles.
A two-vehicle collision on the Muskogee Turnpike on March 14, about seven miles south of Muskogee, has resulted in injuries to one of the occupants of one of the vehicles.
The vehicles were identified as a 2023 Buick Envision driven by Timothy Randolph, 67, of Sallisaw, and a 2021 Ford F550 driven by Patrick Mitchell, 44, of Muldrow. Sharon Randolph, 66, and a passenger in the Envision, was also involved in the collision.
According to the accident report, Timothy Randolph was at a standstill due to multiple crashes ahead blocking the roadway. As Mitchell attempted to stop, he reportedly veered to the left and struck a cable across the roadway. The impact caused the Ford to collide with the rear of the Envision.
Timothy Randolph sustained head and neck injuries, and was promptly transported by Muskogee County EMS to Saint Francis Muskogee and admitted in stable condition.
Sharon Randolph was also transported by Muskogee County EMS to Saint Francis Muskogee, where she was treated for injuries and later released.
Mitchell, the driver of the Ford F550, emerged from the collision unscathed.
The investigation, led by Lt. Daran Koch #94 of Troop SO and assisted by Trooper Kenny Knight #440 and Lt. Derek Burton #139, both of the Muskogee Turnpike detachment, revealed that the cause of the collision was attributed to an other improper act/movement, which was unspecified.
All occupants of both vehicles were reportedly wearing seatbelts at the time of the collision, and airbags were equipped but did not deploy in either vehicle.
The Muskogee County Sheriff’s Office and Muskogee County EMS also provided assistance during the investigation.
