Muldrow splits with Gore, McCurtain; Pirates down Webbers Falls

By DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

The Muldrow Bulldogs ended Spring Break Week by splitting a pair of home games Tuesday afternoon, beating Gore 4-0 but losing 6-4 to McCurtain.

The Pirates capped off the three-way with an 11-3 win over the Webbers Falls Warriors.

In Muldrow’s win over Gore, pitcher Colton Pulliam (2-0) pitched a one-hitter with eight strikeouts.

The Bulldogs (4-6) scored twice in the first inning and single runs in the second and third innings for a 4-0 lead after three innings.

For the game, Jonah Claborn singled with a run batted in, Ben Cowan singled and scored once, Drew Prewett singled, Reid Sutton scored once and Pulliam scored once with an RBI for the ’Dogs.

In defeat, Tate Brooksher doubled for the Pirates (5-6).

Keiden Denton (0-1) took the loss, going one-plus innings and allowing three runs but only one of the runs was earned due to two of Gore’s three errors. Hunter McGee went the final four-plus innings with three Ks, but gave up no earned runs as the lone tally Muldrow scored off him was due to the third Gore error of the game.

In Muldrow’s loss to McCurtain in a battle of Bulldogs, McCurtain grabbed a 4-1 lead with a four-run second inning. Muldrow cut the deficit to 4-2 after three innings but got no closer as each team scored twice in the fourth inning.

In defeat, Wyatt Prewett was 2-for-2 with a run scored, Will Stratmann singled with an RBI and a run scored, Gabe Miller and Drew Prewett each had an RBI and Cowan scored once for Muldrow.

Wyatt Prewett (0-1) suffered the loss, going the first 1.2 innings with a strikeout. Hayden McKinster went the following 1.1 innings with three Ks, then Drew Prewett went the final two innings with five strikeouts.

In Gore’s win over Webbers Falls, Brooksher (3-1) got the complete, four-inning game victory as he struck out nine batters and threw a four-hitter.

With the Warriors (4-3) leading 3-1 in the second inning, the Pirates took the lead for good with a three-run second inning for a 4-3 lead. Then, a six-run third inning and a single run in the fourth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Brooksher singled and scored three runs, McGee singled, scored a run and had an RBI, Keeton Rowe singled, scored twice and had an RBI, James Brasuel singled and had an RBI and Denton singled and scored once for Gore.

In defeat, Gunner Shelby singled and scored once, Gunner Carey and Elliott Kunkel each scored a run and Ben Ward, Hayden Stephens and Blake Rowe singled for Webbers Falls.

Ward (1-1) suffered his first loss of the season, going the first 2.2 innings with four strikeouts . Ryan Cowan got the game’s final out.

The ’Dogs will return to distract play against Stigler, facing the Panthers at 5 p.m. Monday at Stigler and 5 p.m. Tuesday at home.

The Pirates will entertain Panama at 4 p.m. Tuesday, while the Warriors are scheduled to play a home game against Arkoma at 1 this afternoon, then play in a road three-way with Haskell at Cameron beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday before welcoming Okay to town for a 4 p.m. Monday game and Bokoshe for a 4 p.m. Tuesday home game.

CENTRAL 10, MIAMI JV 2

Wednesday at Ketchum Hardball Classic, the Tigers (3-4) jumped on the opposition early as a single run in the first and third innings bookmarked a six-run second inning that put the Tigers ahead 8-0 after three innings.

For the game, Connor Walters was 2-for-3 with a triple, two runs scored and a run batted in, Bo Locust tripled with two RBIs and a run scored and Mekko Ariza tripled and scored twice for Central.

Ryker Miller (1-1) got his first win of the season, pitching a complete fiveinning game with five strikeouts and scattering three hits.

The Tigers were slated to meet Adair at noon Thursday, then meet Claremore-Sequoyah at 4 p.m. this afternoon. How they do in their pool play will determine who and when they play on Saturday to end the tournament before they travel to meet Vian at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

The Wolverines were slated to meet Barndall and Sentinel on Thursday in the opening day of the Ripley Invitational Tournament, then play two more days worth of games today and Saturday before playing a 4:30 p.m. Monday home game against Warner before facing the Tigers.

EUFAULA 6, ROLAND 4

Tuesday at Roland, the Ironheads broke a scoreless tie with a single run in the sixth inning and five runs in the seventh for a 6-0 lead.

The Rangers (2-4 overall, 1-3 in district play) mounted a seventh-inning rally as back-to-back RBI doubles by Ashton Peters and Colton Peters and back-toback RBI singles by Raesean Perryman and Hunter Burris cut the Roland deficit to 6-4, but Eufaula pitcher Hayden Robinson finished his complete-game victory by retiring the next two Roland batters to end the threat and the game.

Robinson struck out 11 Rangers in seven innings.

Alex Brant (0-2) took the loss in relief, going the final two innings and allowing six runs, five of which were earned, on three hits with a strikeout. Senior ace and Arkansas signee Carson Wiggins went the first five innings with 13 Ks and allowed no hits and no runs.
