Free OHCS beginner quilt-making class scheduled

Have you ever thought it would be cool to create your own family heirloom quilts, but just don’t know where to start? Sequoyah County OHCE (Oklahoma Home and Community Education, affiliated with the OSU County OSU Extension Offices in every county in Oklahoma) is planning to present a free beginner quilt-making class to help you get off to a good start.

The class modules will be presented by several members of Sequoyah County OHCE with decades of quilt-making experience. Participants will gain a working introduction to tips and tricks that can make your first quilt a joy instead of a headache, and introduce you to essential knowledge that will convert you from a novice to a quilt enthusiast.

The free class will be held on Thursday, May 9, beginning with a brief meeting at 10 a.m., with a free lunch at 11 a.m., and modules from 12 to 2 p.m. Pre-registration is required no later than Friday, May 3.

To register for the class, text information (preferred) or call 918-7742215 or 918-571-8025. If calling, leave a message with your name, phone number and email address. You will be contacted to confirm your registration and answer any questions you may have.

Participants will leave with plenty of printed information and the knowledge needed to avoid the perils and pitfalls of quilt-making. Plus, the ongoing expertise of the OHCE group if you decide to join the club!

All attendees who complete the training will be entered in a drawing to win a clutch of basic quilt building gear. This package will include a rotary cutter and cutting mat, quilting ruler, table-top ironing mat and iron, and other valuable tools at the conclusion of the class.
