Sooners sweeps Big 12 foe Baylor
The Oklahoma Sooners softball team got a Big 12 series sweep of Baylor last weekend, winning 8-1 Friday night at Oklahoma City’s Hall of Fame Stadium, then sweeping a Saturday true home doubleheader by scores of 12-3 in five innings and 7-4 at Love’s Field in Norman.

In Friday’s win, senior shortstop Tiare Jennings broke the OU softball team’s program record for career doubles with her 59th.
Kelly Maxwell spun a gem in the circle, improving to 9-0 on the season with 5.1 innings of one-run ball. The left-hander struck out four while scattering three hits and a walk, improving her conference numbers to 3-0 with a 0.38 earned-run average.
In Saturday’s sweep, OU (31-1 overall, 9-0 Big 12 play) run-ruled Baylor (17-11, 1-8) in Game 1 before taking the doubleheader and series finale 7-4. Ella Parker provided the “walk-off” run-rule win in game one with an opposite-field grand slam, Alyssa Brito homered in both games and six multi-hit performances were delivered by the OU line-up between the two games.
OU extended its winning streak to 13 games with the doubleheader sweep.
OU’s midweek contest that was scheduled for Tuesday night at Wichita State has been rescheduled to 6 p.m. April 9.
The Sooners were slated to return to action on Thursday in Lawrence, Kan., to open a three-game Big 12 series at Kansas. After Thursday’s game, this evening’s game will be at 5 p.m. and Saturday’s game will be at noon.
