Muldrow wins Roland Wood Bat Tournament

Gore goes 2-1, host Rangers 1-2

The Muldrow Bulldogs baseball team won the Roland Wood Bat Tournament on Saturday, beating Hackett, Ark., 5-3 in the championship game, after winning both games Thursday, defeating Keys 10-2 and Gore 8-4.

The Pirates went 2-1 in the event, beating Keys 4-1 on Thursday and host Roland 5-3 in nine innings on Saturday.

The host Rangers got one win in their event, beating Pocola 8-5 on Friday afternoon after losing 11-4 to Hackett.

In Saturday’s championship game, the Bulldogs (8-6) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings. After Hackett cut the deficit to 4-3 in the fourth inning, Muldrow got a big insurance run in the fifth inning for a 5-3 lead.

For the game, Seminole State College signee Reid Sutton was 2-for-2 with a double, a triple, two runs batted in and two runs scored, while Wyatt Prewett was 2-for-3 with an RBI for Muldrow.

Jonah Claborn (2-3) got the win in relief, going the final four innings with eight strikeouts. Colton Pulliam went the first three innings with seven strikeouts.

In Muldrow’s victory over Gore, the ’Dogs scored five runs in the first inning and were never headed.

For the game, Jacob Gregory and Will Stratmann were 2-for-2 with a run scored, while Gabe Miller was 2-for-3 with a double and two RBIs for Muldrow.

Hayden McKinster (1-0) got his first win of the season, going the first 3.1 innings with six Ks. Claborn went the final 1.1 innings with three strikeouts.

In defeat, Waylon Gilley was 2-for-3 with a run scored, Cruz Ward doubled and scored and Tate Brooksher doubled with two RBIs for the Pirates (7-8).

Dayton Smith (2-3) suffered the loss, going the first two innings with a strikeout. James Brasuel went the final three innings with four Ks.

In Muldrow’s win over Keys, Sutton (2-2) got the complete-game victory, fanning 12 batters in five innings and throwing a three-hitter.

After falling behind 2-0 in the first inning, the Bulldogs scored once in the first inning, twice in the second inning, five runs in the third inning and twice in the fourth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Pulliam and Gregory each doubled with an RBI, Sutton doubled and scored once and Wyatt Prewett doubled with three RBIs for Muldrow.

In Gore’s win over Roland, which essentially was for third place, the Pirates broke a 3-all tie with a two-run ninth inning after the Rangers forced extra innings with a two-run sixth inning.

For the game, Brasuel was 4-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a run scored, while Keeton Rowe was 2-for-4 with a run scored. Hunter McGee (2-1) got the win in relief for the second straight game, going the final 2.2 innings with four strikeouts. Brooksher went the first 6.1 innings with eight Ks.

In defeat, Ashton Peters was 2-for-4 with a run batted in, while Raesean Perryman doubled for the Rangers (5-8).

Avery Moya (0-1) suffered the loss in relief, going the final two innings with two strikeouts. Colton Peters got the start and went the first seven innings with five Ks.

In Gore’s victory over Keys, the Pirates broke a 1-all tie with a run in the third inning and two runs in the sixth inning.

For the game, Gilley was 2-for-3 with a triple and a run batted in, Brasuel was 2-for-3 with an RBI, Kyler McGee doubled and scored once and Rowe doubled with two RBIs and a run scored for Gore.

Hunter McGee got his first win of the season, going the final 4.2 innings in relief with seven strikeouts. Smith started the game and went the first 2.1 innings with five Ks.

In Roland’s win over Pocola, the Rangers rallied from a 3-0 first-inning deficit with a single run in the second inning, a five-run third inning and a tworun fifth inning to take an 8-3 lead.

For the game, Colton Peters was 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored, while Arkansas signee Carson Wiggins doubled with an RBI and a run scored for Roland.

Alex Brant (2-2) got the win, going the first four innings with two strikeouts. Moya went the final two innings with a strikeout.

In Friday’s loss to Hackett, the Rangers jumped out to a 3-0 lead after an inning, but the visitors put away the game with an eight-run sixth inning to put them ahead 11-4.

In defeat, Brant doubled with an RBI and a run scored, while Ashton Peters doubled with two RBIs for Roland.

Paden Pitts (2-1) suffered his first loss of the season, going 5.2 innings with six strikeouts. Colton Peters got the final out of the game.
