Roland splits home district games with Heavener; Vian pitcher throws no-hitter

The Roland Rangers split their home district doubleheader with the visiting Heavener Wolves, taking the opener 6-0 but losing the nightcap 10-2.
In the opener, Roland senior ace and Arkansas signee Carson Wiggins (2-2) got the win as he fanned 16 Wolves in six innings. Alex Brant pitched a scoreless seventh inning with a strikeout.
The Rangers (7-11 overall, 3-7 in district play) scored once in the first inning, twice in the second inning, once in the third inning and twice in the fourth inning.
For the game, Brant was 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, Wiggins aided his own cause by going 2-for-4 with a double, a triple and two runs batted in, Trenton Ross was 2-for-2 and Drew Simpson doubled and scored once for Roland.
In the nightcap in which the Wolves were home, the Rangers took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but the Wolves scored five runs in the second inning to take the lead for good. A three-run fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.
In defeat, Colton Peters was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Roland.
Ashton Peters (1-3) took the loss, despite going four innings with eight Ks. Colton Peters got the last two outs, one of which came by strikeout.
VIAN 10, POCOLA 1, 5 INN.
Tuesday in Vian, Riley Ellis (6-0) got the win for the Wolverines (14-12), going all five innings with 10 strikeouts and throwing a no-hitter.
The Wolverines (14-12) scored twice in the first inning, then, after the Indians cut the deficit in half at 2-1 in the second inning, the Wolverines put the game into runrule status with a seven-run second inning and a run in the third inning.
Originally, Howe was to have made it a three-way, but the Lions canceled out.
For the game, Cash Collins was 3-for-3 with four runs batted in and a run scored, Draighton Fletcher was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Michael Polecat was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and an RBI for Vian.
GAMES RAINED OUT, CANCELED
Several Tuesday games were rained out as Mother Nature won out at the following contests: Oaks at Gans, Muldrow at Panama and Webbers Falls at Gore.
Thursday’s Muldrow road game at Glenpool was canceled, so the Bulldogs will be idle until their 3 p.m. Monday road district doubleheader at Broken Bow.
