Inola completes district sweep of Sallisaw

The Inola Longhorns completed their baseball district sweep of the Sallisaw Black Diamonds on Tuesday afternoon at home, winning 4-1.

After the ’Horns took a 2-0 lead after two innings, the Black Diamonds (16-9 overall, 8-2 in district play) cut their deficit in half on a one-out, RBI single by Broque Oft in the third inning, but that was as close as Sallisaw got as Inola scored a single run in the third and sixth innings.

In defeat, Oft hit an RBI single, while Luke Pack, Brock Streun and Cole Stephens each singled for Sallisaw’s four hits.

Creed Nelson (4-2) suffered the loss, going the first five innings with a strikeout. Brodie Cameron went the sixth inning with a strikeout. Unfortunately, none of Inola’s four runs were earned due to five Sallisaw errors.

ROLAND 10, WESTVILLE 0

Tuesday in Roland, Roland senior ace and Arkansas signee Carson Wiggins threw a fiveinning one-hitter with 12 strikeouts.

The Rangers (10-13 overall, 5-7 in district play) jumped out to a 4-0 lead after an inning, and a five-run fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Paden Pitts was 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a run batted in, while Wiggins was 2-for-4 with three RBIs for Roland.

HARTSHORNE 11, VIAN 9

Tuesday in Vian, the Miners had as great as an 8-0 lead by the fifth inning, but the Wolverines (15-16) tried to mount a rally, even as late as the seventh inning as they scored four runs but fell short.

In defeat, Riley Ellis was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and a run batted in, Gabe Gilbert was 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBIs, Draighton Fletcher was 2-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, Michael Polecat was 2-for-5 with three runs scored, Lastyn Taylor was 2-for-5 and Cash Collins doubled with three RBIs and two runs scored for Vian.

Gilbert (0-5) took the loss, going the first four innings with four strikeouts. Taylor went the final three innings with three Ks.

PANAMA 12, CENTRAL 7

Tuesday night in Panama, the Razorbacks rallied from a 1-0 firstinning deficit with a five-run third inning and a three-run fourth inning to take an 8-1 lead after four innings. The Tigers (12-13) scored four runs in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 8-6 but got no closer.

In defeat, Connor Walters was 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored, Bo Locust was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs batted in and Hardy Buzzard doubled and scored once.

Locust (1-4) took the loss, going the first 2.2 innings with three strikeouts. Walters got the final out of the third inning with a strikeout, then Waylen Campbell went the final three innings with a strikeout.

CENTRAL 8, COLCORD 0

Monday at Central, there was no more information was reported by press time.

ARKOMA 5, GANS 4

PORUM 10, GANS 0

Wednesday at the Class A District Tournament in Porum, the Grizzlies (4-9), who ended the regular season with a 9-3 loss to Leflore on Monday, were eliminated from the playoffs with the two losses.

In the loss to Arkoma, the Mustangs, who trailed 3-1 in the fourth inning, took the lead for good with a three-run fourth inning and a single run in the fifth inning for a 5-3 lead. The Grizzlies cut the deficit to 5-4 in the sixth inning but got no closer.

In defeat, Josh Brunk singled with a run scored and a run batted in, Ashton Langston singled and scored once and Nakota White, Hunter Walters and Brenen Strickland all singled for Gans.

Walters suffered the loss in defeat, going the final five innings with six strikeouts but allowing four of the final five runs, with three of those runs earned. Clay Martinez pitched the first inning with a strikeout.

In the loss to Porum, Porum pitcher Gage Scarberry threw a one-hitter, with that hit being a double by Walters, with nine Ks.

White took the loss, lasting only 1.2 innings as he gave up nine runs, eight of them earned, on nine hits. Martinez got the final five outs, two of which came by strikeout.
