Sooners fall short of making NCAA Championships

LAS VEGAS — The Oklahoma women’s golf team tied for eighth (33-over, 897) at the Las Vegas Regional at Spanish Trail Country Club on Wednesday, concluding the 2023-24 campaign.

LAS VEGAS — The Oklahoma women’s golf team tied for eighth (33-over, 897) at the Las Vegas Regional at Spanish Trail Country Club on Wednesday, concluding the 2023-24 campaign.

The Sooners carded a 30-over, 318 in the final round. Sophomore Savannah Barber tied for 24th (5-over, 222), leading the OU line-up. Barber tallied rounds of 71-69-82. The Fort Worth, Texas, product recorded the best round by a Sooner in the event on Tuesday, finishing 3-under 69 and notching the lone round in the 60s.

Sophomore Isabelle Schlick tied for 29th (7-over, 223), and junior Reagan Chaney tied for 36th. Schlick opened the tournament with rounds of 7370 before an 8-over 80. The Bad Homburg, Germany, product led the Sooners with two birdies. Chaney tallied rounds of 73-74-79, recording 11 pars in the final round.

Sophomore Gracie Mayo carded rounds of 79-7377 and tied for 43rd (13-over 229). After starting the final round 4-over through her first four holes, Mayo tallied pars on 13 of the 14 remaining holes, leading the team in pars. Senior Nina Lang tied for 52nd (17-over, 233) and wrapped up the event with an 11-over 83.
