Protective order filed against Sallisaw coach

Jeremy Weedon filed the emergency temporary protective order against Josh Bolin on June 28 on behalf of a minor under the age of 18, according to court records. Bolin serves as the Sallisaw High School head softball coach, a position he wad promoted to last month.
As of press time Tuesday morning, Judge Gary Huggins granted an emergency protective order and set a court hearing for 9:30 a.m. on July 16.
Sallisaw Public School Superintendent Steve Barrett released a statement following the allegation, stating that the school was aware of the allegations concerning an inappropriate relationship between a student and an employee.
“The district takes these allegations very seriously and immediately notified the appropriate authorities,” Barrett said. “The district took swift action to ensure the safety and well-being of our students, which is our utmost priority.”
Barrett said the employee in question has been placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation.
“We are deeply concerned about these allegations and are committed to a comprehensive and transparent investigation. The safety and trust of our students and their families are of paramount importance to us. We are cooperating fully with law enforcement and other relevant authorities to address this situation.

“The district is also providing support services to any students and staff who may be affected by this situation. Counselors and other support personnel are available to assist those in need.”
Barrett went on to say, “Sallisaw Public School District will not tolerate any behavior that compromises the safety and well-being of our students. We are dedicated to maintaining a safe, respectful, and professional learning environment. The district adheres to strict policies and protocols to prevent and address any form of inappropriate conduct.”
Barrett said he understands that this news may be unsettling to our community.
“We are committed to keeping our stakeholders informed as we navigate through this investigation, while respecting the privacy and rights of those involved. We also ask that you understand that due to possible future legal proceedings, we are releasing the maximum amount of information as allowed at this time,” he said. “The district remains steadfast in our mission to provide a safe, supportive, and effective educational environment for all students.”
The emergency protective order states that Bolin is to have no contact with the alleged victim.
