The Sequoyah County Resource Network, a collaborative group made up of several organizations and agencies in Sequoyah County, is busy prepping for its 10th annual Back-to-School Rodeo Roundup backpack and school supply giveaway.

The Sequoyah County Resource Network, a collaborative group made up of several organizations and agencies in Sequoyah County, is busy prepping for its 10th annual Back-to-School Rodeo Roundup backpack and school supply giveaway.

The event is scheduled for 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 3 at the Sallisaw rodeo grounds.

This year, 650 backpacks with school supplies will be given away. To be eligible for a backpack and supplies, students must be from Sequoyah County and be present at the event.

Activities will be going on during the round-up, with several organizations and businesses offering games, prizes, free pony rides and resources for families.

National Bank of Sallisaw will provide a lunch of freshza-grilled hot dogs. In addition, Mix 105.1 will broadcast live, providing music and updates throughout the event.

A drawing for boys’ and girls’ bicycles will be 11:30 to 11:45 a.m.

Lineup to enter the event starts at 9 a.m., and gates open for registration at 10 a.m.

Organizers are currently seeking additional vendors to participate in the event by setting up booths with games and prizes. Those interested in attending should email Heather Silva at hsilva@sallisawok.org.

Those wishing to contribute to the event either monetarily or by donating supplies should call Melissa Lowe at 918-776-0848.
