Sallisaw Neighborhood Association to meet Monday
The Sallisaw Neighborhood Association will hold a meeting on Monday, August 19, at Simple Simon’s Pizza in Sallisaw, located at 2401 East Cherokee Ave., with a primary focus on streets and sidewalks.
The Sallisaw Neighborhood Association will hold a meeting on Monday, August 19, at Simple Simon’s Pizza in Sallisaw, located at 2401 E. Cherokee Ave., with a primary focus on streets and sidewalks.
George Bormann, Sallisaw’s economic development director, will be the guest speaker, addressing issues related to streets and sidewalks and discussing current grants that impact the residents of Sallisaw. Members of the association will also present grant proposals concerning these topics.
Sallisaw Police Capt. John Weber will discuss concerns noted by the police force, and answer questions from the community. Additionally, Ward 1 City Commissioner Kenny Moody, who was sworn in at the Aug. 12 Sallisaw City Council meeting, and Ward 2 City Commissioner Josh Bailey will speak on issues affecting their respective wards and entertain questions.
The association will also create the association’s mission statement and discuss goals. Everyone is welcome to attend, including residents from greater Sequoyah County, as the decisions and plans for Sallisaw impact the entire region.
The group encourages everyone to join them at meetings following the Sallisaw City Council meeting, which is usually the third Monday of each month, at Simple Simon’s Pizza. The September Sallisaw City Council meeting is slated for September 9.
