Lady Wolverines sweep home district pair from Heavener

The Vian Lady Wolverines began this week off on the right set of paws as they swept a home district doubleheader from the Heavener Lady Wolverines by the scores of 14-1 and 11-9 Monday afternoon at Armstrong Park.

In the opener, after the Lady Wolves took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning, the Lady Wolverines (3-4 overall, 2-1 in District 3A-8 play) put away the game with as seven-run first inning, a two-run second inning and a five-run fifth inning to put the game into run-rule status.

For the contest, Kala Gibbins was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and a run batted in, Rayleigh Terrill was 2-for-3 with a double, four RBIs and three runs scored and Tina Rautenberg was 2-for-3 with a run scored for Vian.

Gibbins (3-4) got the win, striking out three batters and throwing a four-inning fourhitter.

In the nightcap, the Lady Wolverines had to rally from a 7-4 deficit by scoring five runs in the fifth inning to cut the deficit to 8-6, then scoring five runs in the sixth inning to come from trailing 9-6 to take an 11-9 lead.

For the game, Gibbins was 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, four RBIs and three runs scored, Hanna Mattingly was 2-for-3 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored and Terrill doubled and scored once for Vian.

Gibbins got the win, fanning four batters and throwing another four-hitter.

GORE 14, CAMERON-ARKOMA 4

Monday in Gore, the Lady Pirates (2-1), who trailed 1-0 in the first inning, scored three runs in the first inning and five runs in the second inning for an 8-1 lead after two innings.

For the game, Sophie O’Connor was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in for Gore.

Cheyenne Davidson (2-1) got the win, striking out four batters in four innings.

CHECOTAH 6, MULDROW 4

Monday in Checotah, the Lady Wildcats jumped out to a 4-0 lead after two innings. The Lady Bulldogs (1-3 overall, 0-2 in District 4A-6 play) cut their deficit to 4-1 after three innings and 6-4 after five innings but got no closer.

In defeat, Amarie Duran was 2-for-4 for Muldrow.

Kaydence Young (0-1) suffered the loss, despite fanning three batters in 2.2 innings. Amaya Duran went the next 1.1 innings, then Jaydin Dean finished the game.

PANAMA 7, ROLAND 6, 8 INN.

Monday in Panama, after the Lady Rangers (3-3) scored four runs in the sixth inning to tie the game at 6-all, the Lady Razorbacks got the win in walkoff fashion as they scored a run in the eighth inning.

In defeat, Ariana Acevedo was 2-for-5 with a run scored, Adriana Moya was 2-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and a run scored, Addyson Clark was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs, Kyleigh Knapp was 2-for-4 with a run scored and Lilly Cole was 2-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored for Roland.

McKinna Cooper (2-3) suffered the loss as she struck out two batters in 7.2 innings.

POCOLA 14, CENTRAL 0

Monday in Pocola, Pocola pitcher Allysa Parker threw a four-inning one-hitter with nine strikeouts.

The Lady Indians (3-0 overall, 2-0 in District 2A-11 play) gave Parker all the run support needed with a five-run first inning. A four-run second inning and a five-run third inning put the game into run-rule status.

Ayrland Jiles got a single to be the only hit for the Lady Tigers (1-4, 0-1).

Brenliegh Allen (0-4) suffered the loss, though she recorded a strikeout in three innings.

PORUM 12, GANS 1

Monday in Porum, Porum pitcher Mesa Coulson threw a three-inning one-hitter with four strikeouts.

After the Lady Grizzlies (1-4) took a 1-0 lead in the opening inning as Gabbie Price scored on a wild pitch, the Lady Panthers (5-0) scored five runs in the first inning, twice in the second inning and five runs in the third inning for a 12-1 lead to put the game into run-rule status.

Abigail Leach (1-3) suffered the loss, despite fanning three batters in 2.1 innings.

EUFAULA 13, ROLAND 3

Thursday in Roland, the Lady Ironheads rallied from a 3-2 third-inning deficit with a two-run fourth inning, a tworun sixth inning and a sevenrun seventh inning.

In defeat, Addyson Clark was 2-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, while Kyleigh Knapp was 2-for-3 for the Lady Rangers (2-1 in District 3A-8 play). McKinna Cooper took the loss, going all seven innings with two strikeouts.
