Walker to host book signing at library

By JADE PHILLIPS STAFF WRITER

Jason Walker, author of “The Gates of Hell and the Demons That Protect It the 2003 Incident,” will be doing a book signing from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library.

Jason Walker, author of “The Gates of Hell and the Demons That Protect It the 2003 Incident,” will be doing a book signing from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library.

Walker, who grew up in Sallisaw, will be available to sign copies of the book (which can be purchased on Amazon), or you can purchase a copy of the book at the signing.

His book is based on a true story, featuring three friends who end up discovering that maybe “it is best to leave folklore a mystery” after venturing out into the deep Oklahoma backwoods.

The excerpt of the book reads: “Nestled deep in the heart of the Bible Belt lies a quaint town, punctuated by churches and big front porches with wooden swings. Neighbors lend each other eggs and sugar and know when someone misses Sunday service.

“The crickets and frogs sing the melodies of peace and tranquility on humid summer evenings. However, in this otherwise unremarkable town, a sinister spot lies just beyond the throes of the sleepy townsfolk. Nestled in the shadows of overgrown brush, this place of local legend remains an unspoken secret. Curious teenagers whisper about it in the hallways of their school, debating the strange occurrences that seem to center around this forbidden plot of land.

“When three friends decide to venture to this twilight zone, they find that there is significantly more to the area than the hushed rumors encompass. Have they just found the gates of Hell themselves?”

Walker is the founder and leader of a paranormal investigation group called “Night Terror Collective.” He and his crew have been featured in many podcasts/radio shows, newspapers, and nationally published magazines. The crew was featured in Paracon, Okla. earlier this year, and has conducted investigations at some of the most haunted places in America.

The Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library is located at 101 E. Cherokee in Sallisaw.
