CONWAY, Ark. — The Oral Roberts University men’s soccer team would venture out of Tulsa for the second time this season, for a Sept. 5 match-day against the Bears of Central Arkansas University at Bill Stephens Track/Soccer Complex. The Bears prevailed 1-0.
The Bears (3-1)would get on the board first, sneaking past the ORU backline to net a goal in the fourth minute.
While Central Arkansas was able to keep the Golden Eagles (2-2-1) at bay, a strike by Emmanuel Dennis struck the hand of a UCA defender in the penalty box, triggering a VAR review for a possible penalty.
Despite the ball evidently striking the hand of the Bears’ player, the contact was determined to be incidental and the Golden Eagles went into the break without their chance to equalize.
In the second half ORU continued to press to try to leave Conway with a point but the lone goal proved to be the difference as the Bears survived.
The Golden Eagles will take on Houston Christian at 7 p.m. Saturday at Case Soccer Complex.
