Roland, Central, Gans still seeking first win in 2024

As Week 2 (and for some their third game of the 2024 season) got underway with Webbers Falls playing a road game Thursday night at Canadian, three teams — the Roland Rangers, Central Tigers and the Gans Grizzlies — are hoping tonight will be the night they break through and get their first win off the new season.

If the Grizzlies pull through tonight in their home opener against Watts, not only will it be their first win of the season, but it will be the first win for new Gans coach Gary Hixon.

The Rangers are hoping tonight’s home opener against Lavaca, Ark., can spark them to their first win of the 2024 campaign.

The Tigers will try to keep the Warner Eagles from flying high tonight to get victory No. 1 of 2024.

GREAT START FOR SALLISAW BLACK DIAMONDS

The Sallisaw Black Diamonds accomplished two things in last Friday night’s road win over the Stigler Panthers. First, they ended a sevengame losing streak to the Panthers.

However, even more impressive is the win improved the Black Diamonds to 2-0 for the first time in nearly a decade.

Unfortunately, they have to wait a week to hit the gridiron again as they are in a bye week this week. They will return to action next Friday night at Eufaula.

CONGRATULATIONS, LESLIE

At last Saturday’s Arkansas-Oklahoma State game at Boone Pickens Stadium, former OSU Cowboy and National Football League football player Leslie O’Neal was inducted into the OSU Ring of Honor at halftime, joining Bob Fenimore, Barry Sanders, Thurman Thomas and Terry Miller.
