By BY DAVID SEELEY SPORTS EDITOR

For our three local Class A fastpitch softball teams — the Gore Lady Pirates, the Gans Lady Grizzlies and the Webbers Falls Lady Warriors — the Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) announced their district assignments for the start of postseason play, which will be next week.

Gore and Porter Consolidated were sent to Porum, Gans and Keota were sent to Red Oak and Webbers Falls and Crowder were sent to Allen.

The Class 2A, 3A and 4A teams will begin postseason play during the week of Sept. 30-Oct. 5. They will have regionals, super regionals and state. Their regional pairings will be determined by their district standings.

LAST WEEK’S HITTING HIGHLIGHTS

The home runs just keep coming.

On Sept. 9, Central’s Ayrland Jiles hit a three-run, inside-the-park home run to walk it off for the Lady Tigers over Muldrow.

Also on Sept. 9, Gans Lady Grizzly Gabbie Price hit a solo, inside-thepark homer in her team’s victory over McCurtain. Then to top things off, she hit two homers the following day as Gans routed Indianola.

On Sept. 10, Gore’s Emily Daily hit a two-run, inside-the-park homer and teammate Kennedy Williams hit an inside-the-park homer as the Lady Pirates routed Graham-Dustin.

Also on Sept. 10, Roland’s Addyson Clark hit an inside-the-park homer in the first game of the road District 3A-8 doubleheader at Okmulgee, then teammate Kyleigh Knapp went 5-for-5 in the nightcap.

Vian’s Rebel Simon hit a solo homer in the Lady Wolverines’ road District 3A-8 over Henryetta on Sept. 10.

In the I-40 Softball Classic on Thursday, Muldrow’s Danica Tune went 3-for-3 against both Central and Vian, while Vian’s Halli Russell hit a two-run, inside-the-park homer against Warner.

On the final day of the I-40 Softball Classic on Saturday, Roland’s Ariana Acevedo hit an inside-the-park homer to help her team knock off Muldrow.

Also on Saturday at the Classic, Central’s Keeley Poindexter hit a solo homer.

LAST WEEK’S PITCHING HIGHLIGHTS

Gore’s Cheyenne Davidson threw a no-hitter against Graham-Dustin on Sept. 10.

Despite losing, Muldrow’s Jaydin Dean struck out 10 Central batters on Sept. 9.

Also on Sept. 9, Gans pitcher Maddie Freeman fanned 10 McCurtain batters.

On Sept. 10, Roland pitcher McKinna Cooper got 12 Ks against Okmulgee in the second game of a road District 3A-8 doubleheader.

Despite losing to Gore on Saturday in the I-40 Softball Classic, Vian’s Kala Gibbins struck out 11 Lady Pirates.
