The board started the evening by approving the minutes from the August 12 meeting, followed by the approval of the Internal Activities Committee for the 2024-25 school year. In a significant move, the board also agreed to adjust the prices for breakfast and lunch for adults and staff, raising breakfast from $2.25 to $2.37 and lunch from $4.75 to $4.97.
In other decisions, the board accepted the Certificate of Authority for the upcoming school year and endorsed several agreements, including the Participation Agreement among Oklahoma State Districts and the Contractual Agreement for Speech-Language Pathology Services with Kayla Short.
Additionally, the board approved a service agreement with Sequoyah County Commissioners and a contract with Precision Drug Screening for the 2024-25 school year. All motions were passed unanimously, reflecting a cohesive approach to the upcoming academic year.
Other approvals included adjunct applications and list for emergency applications for the 2024-25 school year, a Roland Sudden Cardiac Arrest Plan for the school, and new and upgraded policies.
Several school organization fundraisers and use of school facilities were also approved by the board.
In financial matters, General Fund encumbrances were approved in the amount of $456,298.54, Building Fund for $7,989.40, General Fund for $264,688.37, and General Fund Payroll of $643,117.33.
In was announced in new business matters that there would be a special school board meeting scheduled, with the time and date to be announced. It was also noted that Dana Stites, the school’s social worker, would be retiring.
The meeting concluded with a motion to adjourn at 7:17 p.m., after a productive session of approving crucial agreements and adjusting necessary fees.
