Former Golden Eagle signs NBA contract with Utah Jazz
TULSA — Former Oral Roberts University men’s basketball guard Max Abmas has signed a National Basketball Association contract with the Utah Jazz, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.
TULSA — Former Oral Roberts University men’s basketball guard Max Abmas has signed a National Basketball Association contract with the Utah Jazz, the team announced Tuesday afternoon.
Per Jazz policy, the terms of the deal were not released.
Abmas played for the Jazz in the 2024 NBA Summer League where he appeared in four games. During his time in Las Vegas, Abmas averaged 12.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.8 assists in 23.9 minutes per game. He shot an impressive 45 percent from the field, 41 percent from 3-point range and 78 percent from the free-throw line. In his last Summer League game, Abmas erupted for 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists.
Abmas was a four-year member of the Golden Eagles and last played for ORU during the 2022-23 season.
The Rockwall, Texas, native broke countless school records and garnered many collegiate accolades at ORU. Abmas is a two-time AP All-American, a two-time Summit League Player of the Year and a three-time All-Summit League First Team selection. He averaged 20.8 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 3.2 assists over the course of his ORU career. Abmas ranks third all-time in scoring at ORU with 2,562 points in 123 games played. He led the NCAA in scoring average during the 2020-21 campaign averaging 24.5 points per game.
