Roland runner wins individual championship; Brushy JH is champions

WISTER — The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs were runnersup and the Roland Lady Rangers were third at Monday’s Wister Invitational cross country meet.

WISTER — The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs were runnersup and the Roland Lady Rangers were third at Monday’s Wister Invitational cross country meet.

The Lady Bulldogs were second with 46 points, with the Lady Rangers right behind them with 73 points. The Heavener Lady Wolves won the team title with 29 points.

Roland’s Molly Carver and Muldrow’s Genna Stephenson finished 1-2 in the two-mile race. Carver won the individual title with a time of 11:53, while Stephenson was runner-up with a time 12:25.

The Lady Bulldogs had a total of four runners make the top 20. After Stephenson’s runner-up finish, Emma Fields was fourth (12:52), Jensi Fields was 14th (13:41) and Isabelle Rogers was 16th (14:00). Maysi Fields was 22nd (14:49) and Noa Coleman was 27th (15:33).

The Lady Rangers had a trio of runners make the top 20. After Carver’s first-place finish, Cadence Cole was 19th (14:14) and Abby Bower was 20th (14:15). Mira Reagan was 26th (15:26), Anistyn Howard was 31st (16:33) and Erika Raney was 40th (19:36).

In the high school boys 5K run, three local runners made the top 20. Roland’s Landon Killer was fifth (17:35), Muldrow’s Kendal Howell was 14th (19:04) and Roland’s Josh Bower was 17th (19:27).

As a team, the Bulldogs were sixth with 130 points. As for other ’Dogs, Kaden Rye was 25th (20:28), Jaxson Anstine was 39th (21:37), Seth Nance was 56th (23:57) and Brady Boshers was 60th (25:29), Jack Pyeatt was 71st (29:04) and Parker Sevenstar was 73rd (33:36).

Roland’s Hunter Lowe was 30th (20:32). The Brushy Lady Mountaineers won the junior high team championship with 35 points as well as the individual championship with Elizabeth Fleetwood’s winning time of 10:20.

All total, the Lady Mountaineers saw a total of four runners make the top 20. Besides Elizabeth Fleetwood’s first-place finish, Peyton Campbell was third (10:23), Avie Lamp was fifth (10:51) and Lilly McInerney was 13th (11:33). Jaden Fleetwood was 22nd (12:41) and Tayah Pena was 26th (12:59).

Liberty’s Hayley Bentley also made the top 15 as she was 12th (11:32).

The Muldrow and the Roland runners will return to action on Oct. 8 at the Checotah Crossroads Classic.
