MIAMI, Okla. — The Muldrow Lady Bulldogs were facing elimination in the Class 4A Regional Tournament on Thursday after losing their opening-round game 11-1 to the Oologah Lady Mustangs.
The Lady Bulldogs (1018) were to have a rematch with the Lady Mustangs in the loser’s bracket final, with the winner needing to beat the regional-host Lady Wardogs twice to advance to next week’s Class 4A Super Regional Tournament.
In the loss to Oologah, Oologah pitcher Jocelyn Leak threw a six-inning three-hitter with six strikeouts. The Lady Mustangs (10-6) broke a scoreless tie with a four-run second inning, a five-run fourth inning and a two-run sixth inning to take an 11-0 lead. The lone run for the Lady Bulldogs came in the sixth inning on Jaydin Dean’s suicide-squeeze bunt, scoring Danica Tune.
In defeat, Tune tripled, while Kaydence Young and Jordan Johnson each singled.
Young (3-10) suffered the loss, despite getting two strikeouts in four innings. Amaya Duran pitched the final two innings. The Lady Bulldogs made eight errors, which led to four unearned runs scoring.
