SALLISAW TOPS

Learning about meal guidelines

By Billie Anthony

TOPS 0737 had a busy morning on Monday. We had 13 in attendance with a total net weight loss of 34.2 pounds. We only had a 1.4 pound gain. What a great job our ladies did this past week. Our best weight loss came from Neve with 10.7 pounds! Way to go, Neve!! Doris’s name was drawn for the Two Bit Bowl and she won a double handful of quarters and three one dollar bills. You are a lucky lady, Doris. The Surprise Box was won today by Annette. She received a fragrant candle in a jar. Another lucky lady! Our Ladder Contest is still in process. As of this week Barbara has two more rungs to win this contest. Good luck Barbara! Our chapter challenge for this coming week is to “not eat after our scheduled dinner”.

The Antlers SAG Happy Day has been canceled for this week. So, we had a chapter celebration for those who were to receive certificates of weight loss, best walkers, and best exercisers the past two quarters. Those acknowledged for their hard work were: Machell, Donna, Virginia, Willene, Annette, Lynda, Brenda, Shirley and Billie. Great job, Ladies! We all need to be proud of all our best winners.

Donna brought the program today. The program was about Meal Guidelines from recommended food list. Donna showed us how to measure the food we can eat by using our hand to measure the amount of food we eat. We can eat four to five small meals a day. We measure the amount of fat we eat by using the length of our thumb. To measure the carbs we use our fist as measurement and for protein we use the palm of our hand. Thank you Donna, your program was very informative.

After we said our pledge, we began filling give away bags for the Women’s Expo this coming Thursday. We will all be sitting around our table to answer any questions you may have about TOPS. We will also have a basket with some great prizes for you to buy tickets to win the basket. Come by and see us, you will see a lot of smiles.

It cost $52 a year to join TOPS Club INC. We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10:30am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10:30am and the meeting starts at 11 am and ends at 12. For more info, please call Billie at 918/413-1383 or Lynda at 360/824-2091. We look forward to meeting you.
