Six local high school cross country runners earned berths to next Saturday’s state meets, which will take place at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

In the Class 4A Regional Meet last Saturday at Henryetta’s Nichols Park, Sallisaw’s Sama Salinas grabbed an individual berth to the state meet as he was 19th with a time of 18:11.72. Salinas was the only Sallisaw runner to qualify for state.

As for other Black Diamonds, Jonas Reid was 58th (20:08.88) and Dawson Glover was 80th (21:08.57).

For the Lady Diamonds, Haley Birdtail was 89th (17:17.66) to be Sallisaw’s highest female finisher at the regional meet. Aria Kyser was 91st (17:27.09), Jazmyne Wright was 96th (18:44.17) and Emma Coury was 97th (18:45.02).

Just one year ago, the Muldrow Lady Bulldogs made history by qualifying the entire team to the 2023 Class 4A State Meet. Unfortunately, there was no repeat in their future.

At last Saturday’s Class 4A Regional Meet at Henryetta’s Nichols Park, the Lady Bulldogs were 13th with 309 points, and the top six teams qualified all team members to state.

In fact, there were no Muldrow state qualifiers this year.

The highest Lady Bulldog finisher was Emma Fields, who was 48th (14:53.37). Genna Stephenson was 56th (15:02.11), Jensi Fields was 64th (15:32.74), Isabelle Rogers was 77th (16:14.7), Maysi Fields was 78th (16:15.9) and Noa Coleman was 82nd (16:33.37).

In the Class 4A Boys Regional Meet at Henryetta, the Muldrow Bulldogs were 15th with 422 points, and the top six teams qualified all members to state.

The fastest time for the ’Dogs was turned in by Jesse Kilinc, who ran a 19:33.5 to place 48th. Kendal Howell was 59th (20:10.94), Jaxson Anstine was 108th (23:27.09), Brady Boshers was 117th (24:14.51), Seth Nance was 122nd (26:55.83) and Zeeshan Bukhari was 123rd (27:38.48).

However, history was made for the Roland High School cross country teams as they saw their first two runners ever to qualify for the Class 3A State Meet next Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

In the Class 3A Regional Meet last Saturday at Henryetta, Roland’s Molly Carver and Landon Killer each qualified for state.

In the Class 3A Girls Regional Meet, Carver was 14th (13:41.98).

As a team, the Lady Rangers were 11th with 287 points, and the top five teams qualified all team members to state.

As for other Lady Rangers, Abby Bower was 65th (16:21.25), Cadence Cole was 71st (17:16.62), Landyn Ramey was 72nd (17:24.39), Anistyn Howard was 76th (17:51.32), Mira Reagan was 78th (19:21.24) and Erika Raney was 81st (22:06.13).

In the Class 3A Boys Regional Meet, Killer placed 14th with a time of 18:32.51.

Two other Rangers competed in last Saturday’s regional meet as Josh Bower was 33rd (19:52.08) and Hunter Lowe was 45th (21:20.3).

In the Class 2A Regional Meet last Saturday at North Rock Creek High School north of Shawnee, Central’s Cambree Bair and Paris Campbell also qualified for the state meet next Saturday at Edmond Santa Fe High School.

Bair was 18th (14:25.32), while Campbell was 32nd (15:13.98).

As a team, the Lady Tigers were seventh with 153 points, and the top five teams qualified all team members to state.

As for other Lady Tigers, Xhalya Mosby was 45th (15:55.44), Scarlett Harrison was 51st (16:13.51), Rileigh Ford was 52nd (16:26.51) and Jacilynn Young was 63rd (17:53.55).

At the Class A Regional Meet last Saturday at Henryetta, Webbers Falls Lady Warrior senior Cheyanne Herrier qualified for her first-ever state meet in four tries as she was 10th with a time of 14:11.86 to qualify for next Saturday’s state meet at Edmond Santa Fe High School.
