Denver W. Rowell
Denver W. Rowell, 23, was charged on July 31, 2023, with shooting with intent to kill, possession of firearm after former felony conviction and possession of firearm during commission of felony after allegedly firing a 9mm pistol multiple times at authorities.
Roland Police officer Brian Simpson had reportedly attempted to check the welfare of a motorist around 4 a.m. when he was shot at multiple times by Rowell, the occupant of the vehicle.
As the officer fired back, Rowell ran into a tree line, evading the officer and fleeing on foot.
It was also discovered that Rowell was found to be driving a stolen vehicle that had allegedly been taken from a Sallisaw residence.
Fort Smith police later apprehended Rowell during a foot pursuit, and found him to be in possession of a purse containing the loaded pistol.
Ethan M. Branham
Ethan M. Branham, 31, of Sallisaw, was charged on April 15, 2024, with assault, battery or assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, endangering others while eluding/ attempting to elude police officers, littering the highway, and operating vehicle with expired/improper tag/decal.
Sequoyah County Sheriff deputies pursued Branham after he attempted to elude officers near Bawcom Road, while Branham was driving in an area of a reported shooting.
Sheriff Larry Lane said while a deputy was responding to the call, he met Branham driving by in a truck. But when the deputy tried to stop him, Branham fled.
Branham then crashed into an Oklahoma Highway Patrol unit and was able to get away.
Lane said a second pursuit happened when deputy Brian Stone was patrolling the same area and saw Branham driving a different truck. Branham then crashed the truck and fled into the woods.
Nathan R. Horn
Nathan R. Horn, 34, of Fort Smith, Ark., was charged on March 10, 2023, with two counts of lewd molestation.
Sallisaw Police Detective Andrew Edwards reported on Jan. 12, 2023, a forensic interview was conducted with the alleged victim regarding allegations made against Horn by the alleged victim, and their mother.
During the interview, the alleged victim told authorities they were raped by Horn from the time they were 10 to 11 years old, with one of the incidents occurring at an apartment complex in Sallisaw.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed in the case, Horn told the alleged victim that if they told anyone about the sexual abuse, he would kill their family members.
