Sooners win basketball opener over Lindenwood

Moore made 8-of-13 shots from the floor with three 3-pointers and seven rebounds for the Sooners. Godwin totaled 11 points and a game-high 15 rebounds.
Freshman Jeremiah Fears finished with 16 points, six assists and five rebounds off the bench for the Sooners (1-0). Duke Miles made 4-of-6 shots from 3-point range, scoring 14 with six assists. Brycen Goodine buried three 3s and scored 11 — all in the first half.
Lindenwood freshman Jadis Jones showed why he is the reigning Missouri Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year after posting a double-double in his first career start. Jones shot 3-of-8 from the floor and 4-of-4 from the free-throw line on his way to 10 points. The true freshman also grabbed 10 rebounds including five on the offensive glass. He is the first Lion to post a double-double on opening night since Romelo Burrell during the 2021-22 season.
Wisconsin-Milwaukee transfer Markeith Browning II attacked the rim all-night against OU leading the team in points with 14 for the Lions (0-1). Browning shot 7-of-18 from the floor while grabbing four boards. Reggie Bass and Anias Futrell both scored seven while Colin Ruffin added five points, three rebounds and two assists.
The Sooners will take a week off before returning action when they entertain Northwestern State, La., at 7 p.m. next Monday.
