Sooners fall to No. 24 Missouri

Down 16-9 with less than 10 minutes left, OU drove 75 yards on 12 plays, tying the game on an 18-yard touchdown pass by freshman running back Taylor Tatum to sophomore quarterback Jackson Arnold.
On the following Missouri possession, Bowman scooped up the loose ball and raced down the sideline 49 yards, putting the Sooners (5-5 overall, 1-5 in Southeastern Conference play) up 23-16. Sophomore linebacker Sammy Omosigho forced the fumble.
The Tigers (7-2, 3-2) responded with the game-tying touchdown on their next drive, using 57 seconds to drive 75 yards on eight plays. Missouri scored the go-ahead touchdown on a 17-yard fumble return with 22 seconds remaining.
Senior kicker Zach Schmit accounted for all nine of OU’s points in the first half, making all three of his field goal attempts, including a 56-yarder as time expired in the first half. He also converted from 40 and 35 yards. Schmit’s 56-yard field goal was his career-long by 10 yards and tied for the third-longest in school history.
Senior linebacker Danny Stutsman recorded a team-high 19 tackles, notching his 14th career game and fourth this season with double-digit tackles. Stutsman moved into 10th place on OU’s career tackles list, passing defensive end Kevin Murphy. Senior defensive lineman Ethan Downs registered a season-high six tackles.
Freshman running back Xavier Robinson led the OU ground attack, finishing with 56 rushing yards on nine attempts. Red-shirt junior wide receiver Deion Burks tallied a team-high 44 receiving yards on five catches, while red-shirt junior tight end Bauer Sharp hauled in a 43-yard catch-and-run on a fake punt pass from redshirt fifth-year punter Luke Elzinga.
After a week off, the Sooners will entertain Alabama at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 23 for Senior Day at Owen Field.
