Black Diamonds participate at Tulsa Union/Pryor IceFighter Tournament

TULSA — The Sallisaw Black Diamonds high school and junior high wrestlers saw action on Saturday at the Tulsa Union/Pryor IceFighter Open.

Morgan Duke, wrestling at 120 pounds, went 4-1, beating Owasso’s Dallas Thorpe 4-2 and McAlester Middle School’s Tanner Barlow 5-0, winning by forfeit over Sand Springs wrestler Ayreson Reiss and defeating Tulsa Union’s Zebediah Tibbles 10-7, but losing 7-0 to Sand Springs wrestler Kase Skaggs.

Brody Mills went 3-2 at 165 pounds, beating Tulsa Webster’s Quentin Seely by pinfall in 17 seconds and getting a pair major decision wins — 13-5 major decision over Greenwood (Ark.) High School’s Jeremy Johnson and 12-1 over Bixby’s Griffin Goins before losing 9-4 to Broken Arrow’s Matthew Mann and 6-5 to Fort Gibson’s Brendan Bell.

At 144 pounds, Dawson Glover also went 3-2. Glover defeated Tulsa Webster’s William Goss 6-0, lost 11-6 to Coweta’s Turbo Patton, beat Stilwell’s Johnny Unger by forfeit, got a 15-4 major decision over fellow Black Diamond Remmi Dobbs and lost 4-0 to Poteau’s Jake Fredrickson. Dobbs went 1-2, beating Tulsa Union’s Tristan Roth 9-2 before losing to Glover and to Wagoner’s Adam Luna by pinfall.

In the junior high division, Kobe Johnson won the 126-pound title with a pinfall win in 42 seconds over Coweta’s Titan Ellis. Johnson pinned Tulsa Union’s Jaylen President in a minute and pinned Broken Arrow Junior High School’s Trenton Watkins by a 19-0 technical fall to reach the finals.

In the 112-pound class in the JH division, Xander Montgomery was third after losing to Bristow’s Ross Powell. Montgomery pinned Wagoner’s Kaidyn Fox in 51 seconds, beat Poteau’s Sebastian Watkins 7-2, defeated Wilburton’s Daniel Lee by forfeit, pinned Broken Arrow Junior High School’s Jase Willhite in 44 seconds and beat Enid’s Gunner Preston 5-1.

Lucas McAllister, wrestling at 119 pounds in the junior high division, went 4-1. He beat Broken Arrow Wrestling Club’s Rayden Miller by forfeit and pinned Sallisaw Middle School wrestler Tite Cox in 1:13, pinned Collinsville’s Eli Singleton in 40 seconds and defeated Tulsa Union’s Beckham Tibbles 7-0 before losing by pinball to Bartlesville’s Christian Ketiku.

Hagan Compton, wrestling at heavyweight in the junior high division, won both of his matches — by forfeit over Broken Arrow Junior High School’s Aayden Hamilton and Broken Arrow Wrestling Club’s Noah Lewis.

In the JH 170-pound division, Talon Flynn went 3-2, getting wins over Wagoner’s Chase Troxel by pinfall in 1:39, Enid’s Jiro Gushikuma by pinfall in 1:22 and Tulsa Union’s Tyce Walker by pinfall in 42 seconds, but losing by pinfall to Pryor’s Gauge Vogel and falling 6-3 to Broken Arrow’s Dane Durant.

Bryce Cox, wrestling in the junior high 132-pound division, also went 3-2. Cox posted victories over Bixby Junior High School’s Maverick Castillo by pinfall in 34 seconds, Sand Springs wrestler Teigon Durance by pinfall in 1:04 and Broken Arrow’s Jack Dawson by pinfall in 1:01, but losing to Tulsa Union’s Matcel Hawkins and Tulsa Union’s Dylan Leclair by pinfalls.

At 86 pounds in the junior high division, Toren Gates went 3-1, pinning Enid’s Riley Haines in 1:19 and winning by forfeit over Sallisaw JH wrestler Kayden Sanders and over Haines but losing by pinfall to Sand Springs Wrestling’s Maddox Pope.

In the JH division, heavyweight wrestler Hayden Barker went 2-2, beating Pryor’s Caden Smallwood by pinfall in 3:40 and defeating Tulsa Union’s Evan Gorden 127, but falling to Broke Arrow’s Edison Dennis by pinfall and losing 1-0 to Enid’s Stryker Squire.

At 106 pounds in the JH division, Jeffrey Wheat went 2-2. He beat Collinsville Cardinal Wrestling’s Corbin Thomas 8-4 and beat Stilwell’s Noah Turman 3-0 but lost by pinfall to Wagoner’s Ethan Steinheil and to Wagoner’s Hunter Branchcomb.

Gunner Jackson, wrestling at 98 pounds in the junior high division, went 1-2, beating Van Buren (Ark.) Pointers wrestler Odin Daosaeng 9-6 but losing by pinfall to Pryor’s Bryce Foreman and Broken Arrow JH’s Sawyer Ibarra.

At 106 pounds in the junior high division, Johnny Nieto lost to Tulsa Union’s Josiah Williby and Collinsville Cardinal Wrestling’s Braxton Jones by pinfall.

Hunter McCormack, wrestling at 92 pounds in the JH division, lost by pinfall to Inola’s Jate Sims and by forfeit to Bixby Junior High School’s Braden St. Romain.

At 80 pounds in the junior high division, Sabashytn Small lost by pinfall to Pryor’s Raiff Matheson and to Comet’s Alex Jones.

Jimmy Martin, wrestling at 155 pounds in the JH division, lost by pinfall to Collinsville Cardinal Wrestling’s Michael Tittle and to Barnsdall’s Maden Peck.

At 80 pounds in the junior high division, Mason Leach lost by forfeit to Cooper Franklin and by pinfall to Sapulpa Youth Wrestling Club’s Zayden Still.

Garrett Crooks, wrestling at 80 pounds in the JH division, lost by pinfalls to Henryetta’s Micha Bevenue and to Collinsville Youth Wrestling’s Zane Robinson.

At 195 pounds in the junior high division, Dylan Lee lost by pinfall to Pryor’s Damian Summers and fell 13-6 to Broken Arrow’s Xander Cano.
