Gore, Roland grapple with Heavener in Tuesday’s triangular at Gore

Both the host Gore Pirates and the Roland Rangers grappled against the Heavener Wolves on Tuesday night at Gore Event Center.

The Pirates (2-1 in duals this season) tied both the Rangers (18-all) and the Wolves (30-all), but Gore ended up the dual victor each time due to getting more pinfall wins in each dual.

The Rangers (1-1 in duals this season) edged the Wolves 28-27.

In Gore’s victory over Roland, Kaydin McCartney, Bladin McCartney and Devon Mannon each won by pinfalls.

In Roland’s loss to Gore, Austin Foster, Channing McKinney and Drew Simpson won by pinfalls, while Cash Nelson won by forfeit.

In Gore’s win over Heavener, Cole Brooksher, Antonio Parker and Kaydin McCartney all win by pinfalls, while Bladin McCartney and Mannon each won by forfeit.

In Roland’s win over Heavener, Foster and Simpson each won by technical fall, McKinney won by pinfall and Nelson won by forfeit.

In junior high action, Gore beat Roland 30-12 and Heavener 24-18, while Roland lost 36-24 to Heavener.

The Pirates will participate in the District 3A-7 Duals beginning at noon Tuesday at Sperry along with Hulbert, Pawhuska, Prague, Sequoyah-Tahlequah and Tulsa Victory Christian. The team with the best win-loss record on the day will qualify for the Class 3A Dual State Tournament on Feb. 14-15.

The Rangers are not scheduled to return to action until participating in the 2025 Maverick Conference Tournament, which will take place Jan. 31-Feb. 1 in Stilwell.
