Local grapplers place at 64th Paul Post Classic

Several local wrestlers placed at this past weekend’s 64th annual Paul Post Classic, which took place Friday and Saturday at Sallisaw High School’s Paul Post Field House.

For Sallisaw, Cason Craft was the champion at 113 pounds, Bodie Adams was runner-up at 175, Cole Mayfield was third at 157, Hunter Smith was sixth at 190, Morgan Duke (120), Dawson Glover (138), Talon Flynn (144) and Cash Mayfield (150) were all ninth, Tukker Chase was 10th and Kash Keepes 13th at 215, Lucas McAllister was 15th at 126 and Blake Lamb was 16th at 132.

For Vian, heavyweight Garritt Hunt was second and Adoff Stahl was seventh at 138 pounds. As for other Wolverines, Gunner Richey was 10th at 157 pounds, Tyson Murphy was 15th at 175, Isaac Mazzerelli tied for 20th at 215 and Jace Huff tied for 20th at 165.

For Gore, Kaydin McCartney was seventh at heavyweight, Bladin McCartney was ninth at 165 pounds and Devon Mannon was 11th at 157 pounds. Antonio Parker went 1-2 at 215 pounds and Cole Brooksher fell short in all four matches he wrestled at 144 pounds.

As for team standings, Sallisaw was ninth with 305 points, Vian was 20th with 103.5 points and Gore was 23rd with 77.5 points.

After the Black Diamonds wrestled Tuesday night at Greenwood, Ark., they will entertain the Stilwell Indians at 6 p.m. Thursday at Paul Post Field House before participating in the two-day Maverick Conference Tournament on Friday and Saturday in Stilwell.

The Pirates will be idle until the Maverick Conference Tournament. The Wolverines had Tuesday night’s Hilldale High School Quadrangular cancelled, so they will be off until the Maverick Conference Tournament.

The four Lady Wolverines wrestlers will be at the Maverick Conference Tournament on Friday and Saturday at Poteau High School’s Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse.
