SALLISAW TOPS

Celebrate with joy

By Billie Anthony

Monday was a beautiful sunny day to come to TOPS! The members were happy to see one another and wish them luck on the scales. We had twelve TOPS(Take Off Pounds Sensibly) and 1 KOPS(Keep Off Pounds Sensibly) in attendance today. We had a net loss of .1 pounds. We did better than last week and I am sure we will do better next week. Brenda H had the biggest weight loss of 7 pounds. Way to go, Brenda H. You are doing great! The Chapter also got to celebrate with our January best weight loss with Barbara who lost 6.2 pounds. She received a four leaf clover charm for her bracelet. So this week we had six members sign on the Lucky Lotto sheet and six stickers being added to the Surprise Box. Our chapter challenge for this coming week is ‘Celebrate the things with JOY (Jesus, Others, Yourself). We love hearing the little bell ring when someone has a weight loss. We celebrate each other’s success and encourage one another’s slight weight gain with the chapter phrase ‘Keep trying, We believe in You.’

We are looking forwards to celebrating with the Poteau TOPS chapter at chapter SAG (South Area Gathering)day March 8. So far we have six members planning on attending. As the date gets closer I am sure more members will go. The theme will be Favorite Character Movie Night. We are to dress as our favorite movie actor or actress. My favorite movie is Jimmy Stewarts “It’s a Wonderful Life!” Now I have the challenge of figuring out how to dress as a character from that movie! Chapter certificates will be given out to top three best walkers; top three best weight loss; top three chapter exercisers, chapter weight loss and Chapter Angel. All my members are helpers. We will also have raffle baskets as fund raisers for the chapters attending.

Our program today had us doing a few Balance exercises that I received from the Cherokee Nation nutritionist last week. We have discovered as we get older, we begin to have problems with balance and a few of us have fallen. Fortunately, we have had no broken bones yet. The exercise I feel helped me most was to step with heel, toe, heel, toe. Learning to walk, heel, toe, heel, toe, takes more concentration.

Beginning January 1, TOPS CLUB INC. membership will increase to $70 a year for first time member, $60 a year for first time renewal member and $48 for second or more renewal members.

We meet at First Christian Church, 706 N Wheeler, Sallisaw, Monday at 10 am-12pm. We begin weighing at 10:00am and the meeting starts at 11 am and ends at 12. For more info, please call Billie at 918-413-1383. We look forward to meeting you.
