Former Vian player, OBU Bison off to 4-6 start to season

Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Greenlee Wells and her new team, the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison, are off to a 4-6 start to the new season.

Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Greenlee Wells and her new team, the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison, are off to a 4-6 start to the new season.

At the Branson Leadoff Classic on Jan. 31-Feb. 2, the Bison defeated Drury 5-1 on Feb. 1 and beat Upper Iowa 4-3 on Feb. 2, but they lost 2-1 to Emporia State University and 3-1 to Maryville, Mo., on Jan. 31, fell 3-2 to Southwest Baptist on Feb. 1 and lost 5-3 to Missouri Southern on Feb. 2.

Last weekend at the Oklahoma Christian University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma/University of Central Oklahoma Invitational in Edmond, the Bison beat co-host UCO 12-7 on Friday and defeated Western New Mexico 12-6 on Saturday but fell 12-1 in six innings to Rogers State on Friday and 4-3 to OCUSA on Saturday.

In the win over Drury, Wells went hitless in three at-bats, while going 1-for-3 in the victory over Upper Iowa.

Wells was hitless in three atbats in the loss to Emporia State, 0-for-4 against Maryville, 0-for-2 against Southwest Baptist and 2-for-3 with a double and a run batted in.

In the win over UCO, Wells was 2-for-3 with a double, her first homer of the season, three RBIs and three runs scored, while going hitless in three atbats against Rogers State.

In the victory over Western New Mexico, Wells went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, while going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI against OCUSA.

Wells and the Bison will return to action in the Great American Conference/ MIAA Invitational, which will take place this Friday through Sunday at OBU in Shawnee.
