Late rally comes up short for Black Diamonds against Stilwell

STILWELL — A fourth-quarter rally in which the Sallisaw Black Diamonds had a brief lead came up short in their 5754 NOAA Conference road loss to the host Stilwell Indians on Tuesday night at Stilwell Activity Center.

STILWELL — A fourth-quarter rally in which the Sallisaw Black Diamonds had a brief lead came up short in their 5754 NOAA Conference road loss to the host Stilwell Indians on Tuesday night at Stilwell Activity Center.

The Black Diamonds (8-13 overall, 3-6 in NOAA Conference play) trailed the Indians (16-5, 7-2) for most of the game as Stilwell led 23-9 after a quarter, 3022 at halftime and 45-37 after three periods.

However, in the fourth quarter, the Black Diamonds outscored the Indians 17-12, and even had a brief advantage, but Sallisaw could not complete the comeback.

In defeat, Cooper Jackson scored a game-high 21 points to lead Sallisaw, followed by Jackson Harris with 12 points, Brodi Nickell with nine points, Cooper Cox with five points, Cooper Carter with four points and Tae Muskrat-Flynn with three points.

MULDROW 70, CHECOTAH 42

Tuesday night at Checotah, the Bulldogs (16-6 overall, 5-4 in NOAA Conference play) jumped out to a 21-6 lead over the Wildcats (2-16, 1-8) after the first quarter and were never headed.

For the game, Teaguen Collins scored a game-high 24 points to lead Muldrow, followed by Jesse Kilinc with 12 points, Jaxson Anstine with 10 points, Parker Sevenstar with eight points, DeShawn Willson with seven points, E.J. Zanders with four points, Kendal Howell and D.J. Massey with two points each and Jermauree Palmer with a free throw.

ROLAND 63, POTEAU 22

Tuesday night at Poteau High School’s Sherman Floyd Fieldhouse, the Runnin’ Rangers (19-1 overall, 9-0 in NOAA Conference play) needed very little time to put away the Pirates (6-15, 2-7) as Roland jumped out to a 23-5 lead after a quarter, which became a 50-13 halftime advantage and a 58-21 lead after three periods.

For the game, Damonte Owens scored a game-high 26 points to lead Roland, followed by Buck Triplett with 14 points, Mason Kemp with seven points, Kade Shook and Kayden Hartt with five points each and Cason Perryman, Raesean Perryman and Landon Fowler with two points apiece.
