Sallisaw Takedown Club qualify several members for state

The Sallisaw Takedown Club saw 21 members qualify for this weekend’s Oklahoma Kids Wrestling Association State Tournament by doing well at last Saturday’s OKWA Southeast Regional Tournament at Paul Post Field House.

The Sallisaw Takedown Club saw 21 members qualify for this weekend’s Oklahoma Kids Wrestling Association State Tournament by doing well at last Saturday’s OKWA Southeast Regional Tournament at Paul Post Field House.

Two members were regional champions — Harbor Hicks at heavyweight in the age 8-andyounger division and Gatlen Ruminer at 49 pounds in the age 6-and-younger division.

Elecktra Locust (heavyweight, girls age 12-and-younger division), Sara Lee (74, girls age 10-andyounger), Max Linthicum (126, age 15-and-younger), Eli Matlock (61, age 10-and-younger) and Finn Morse (49, age 6-and-younger) all were regional runners-up.

Destiny Clarke (102 pounds, girls age 15-and-younger division), Melania Duke (115, girls age 12-and-younger), Briar James (155, age 15-and-younger), Jaxton Roth (132, age 15-and-younger), Tite Cox (126, age 15-and-younger), Mylz Oft (98, age 15-and-younger), Toren Gates (84, age 12-and-younger), Kole Knoke (131, age 10-and-younger) and Dawson Smith (46, age 6-and-younger) all placed third.

Braxton Taylor (140 pounds, age 12-and-younger division) and Clay Warner (110, age 10-and-younger) were fourth, Coby Lynch (49, age 8-and-younger) and Connor Carrington (60, age 6-and-younger) were fifth and Sean Taylor (120, age 12-and-younger) was sixth.

The OKWA State Tournament will be today and Saturday at Oklahoma City’s Jim Norick State Fair Arena.
