Sallisaw, Vian girls wrestlers compete at Class 5A Regional Tournament
JAY — Both the Sallisaw Lady Diamonds and Vian Lady Wolverines wrestlers competed at the Class 5A Regional Tournament on Monday, with the hopes of making this month’s state tournament. However, no one local qualified for state.

For the Lady Diamonds, Mattie Schuh (110 pounds) and Lana Petree (190) each won two matches, while Paige Frederick (115) won a match.
Taylor Archuleta (100 pounds), Kadence Martinez (120), Natalie Flute (125), Abbygail Gardenhire (145) and Emilie Robbins (155) also represented the Lady Diamonds, who scored 23 points as a team, but did not pick up any wins.
For the Lady Wolverines, who scored nine points, they had one wrestler get wins as 115-pounder Maddison Turman went 2-2 on the day, while Kye Barnes (100 pounds) and Carmen Rautenberg (130) did not pick up any wins.
