High school baseball, slow-pitch softball returning to a diamond near you
The 2025 high school baseball and slow-pitch softball seasons have arrived.
The 2025 high school baseball and slow-pitch softball seasons have arrived.
In fact, the first high school baseball game in the county will be at noon Saturday when the Muldrow Bulldogs begin the John Rozell era as they entertain the Westville Yellowjackets.
Also, the Vian Wolverines will begin their 2025 baseball season at 1 p.m. Saturday at Poteau.
Most other teams will wait until Monday to get their seasons underway.
The complete schedule, or at least what I have received to this point, from now until March 11 for both baseball and slow-pitch softball are listed at the end of this column.
I can tell you that there will not be enough players for the Roland Lady Rangers to have a slow-pitch team this season, and the same is likely going to happen for the Sallisaw Lady Diamonds — although Sallisaw coach Wes Green said he would see how many ladies come out after the Lady Diamonds’ basketball playoff run ends.
WHAT THIS COLUMN IS ABOUT
The Diamond Notes Column will publish in each Wednesday’s edition during the season, beginning with March 12.
This column will talk about the ins and outs, ups and downs and what’s on the horizon as far as tournaments are concerned.
It also will mention some of the previous week’s individual hitting and/ or pitching highlights of our area.
SPRING SPORTS GUIDE PUBLISHING MARCH 28
The 2025 Spring Sports Guide, which will have the spring sports teams’ photographs, schedules and rosters, will publish March 28 — which is exactly one month from today.
We will be needing help with these, or at least letting me know when I can come out for team photographs/headshots.
We truly need to have this part of the process done by March 14 — which is the last day of school (or for some, it’s March 13) — since the following week, which is the week before the Guide will publish, will be Spring Break.
I also will do season-preview stories of the spring teams, whose preseason information I receive. That also can be sent to me by e-mail.
My contact information is listed at the end of this column.
