A minor traffic accident involving a Sallisaw Public Schools bus and another vehicle was reported Thursday morning by school officials and Sallisaw Police.
Sallisaw Police Chief Terry Franklin said a motorist driving a pickup truck struck mirrors with one of the school’s buses, causing minor damage.
“The officers did take the names and addresses of all the students/occupants on the bus, which is procedure for any traffic accident,” Franklin said.
Franklin said none of the students on the bus, the bus driver or the driver of the pickup truck were injured.
Sallisaw Public Schools sent out a notification to both staff and parents just after 9 a.m. on Thursday.
“In order to prevent misinformation, we wanted to inform all parents and guardians that this morning one of our buses swiped mirrors with a passing truck. There were no injuries associated with this incident and all the children are at school. Sallisaw Police were on site and made the appropriate report to ensure damages to both vehicles could be taken care of. The parents of all the children involved have been or are being notified at this time.”
