Gore Trustees presented clean audit, resolutions approved

The Gore Board of Trustees convened on February 18 for their regular meeting, making significant decisions that will impact the town’s financial planning and infrastructure improvements.

The meeting included the presentation of the 2023-24 FY audit by Robert St. Pierre, C.P.A., who confirmed a clean opinion on the town’s financial management for the fiscal year.

A key agenda item was the approval of Resolution 0218-2025-1, which authorizes Gore Public Works Authority (GPWA) to take significant steps in managing the town’s utilities. The resolution approves actions related to the leasing of water, sewer, and garbage collection systems to the GPWA and the issuance of a promissory note to the Oklahoma Water Resources Board. The resolution passed unanimously.

In a brief discussion about personnel matters, the board chose to take no action regarding the promotion of Colt Oliver.

The police chief’s report highlighted a productive January, with 124 traffic stops, 39 calls for service, and the issuance of 19 citations. There was no report from the fire department for the month.

During the GPWA meeting, a significant discussion followed on Resolution 02-18-2025-2, which authorizes GPWA to apply for a financial assistance loan from the Oklahoma Water Resources Board. The loan, not to exceed $1.43 million, is earmarked for improvements to the town’s water system. The resolution passed without opposition.

Trustees also reviewed quotes for a new metal building package, approving the lowest bid of $13,099.25 from Craco Truss & Post Frame Supply.

Finally, GPWA Administrator Jeremy Lane provided a report detailing operational challenges, including a 16% water loss, two water leaks, and sewer line issues.
