Sallisaw routs Muldrow in season opener

The Sallisaw Black Diamonds got their 2025 baseball season underway in fine fashion Monday as they routed District 4A-8 and county rival Muldrow 17-0.

The Sallisaw Black Diamonds got their 2025 baseball season underway in fine fashion Monday as they routed District 4A-8 and county rival Muldrow 17-0.

The Black Diamonds (1-0 overall, 1-0 in district play) jumped out to a 3-0 lead after an inning, 5-0 after two and 10-0 after three. A seven-run fifth inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Easton Wolfe was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs batted in and two runs scored, Luke Pack was 2-for-3 with a double and three runs scored, Connor Green was 2-for-3 with a double and four RBIs, Creed Nelson was 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored, Rylan Eagle was 2-for-4 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored and Kase Adams was 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run scored for Sallisaw.

Nelson (1-0) got the win, going the first four innings with nine strikeouts. Brodie Cameron went the final inning with a strikeout. The duo combined on a fourhitter.

In defeat, Wyatt Prewett, Gabe Miller, Jace Prewett and Jackson Phillips each singled for the Bulldogs (11, 0-1).

Jonah Claborn (0-1) took the loss, getting two strikeouts in two innings. Jace Prewett went the next two innings with three Ks and Wyatt Prewett went the final inning with two strikeouts.

Muldrow’s seven errors led to seven unearned runs scoring for Sallisaw.

CENTRAL 9, STILWELL 1

Monday at Stilwell, the Jeremy Thompson era got underway in fine fashion as the Tigers (1-0) won their season opener.

The Tigers scored single runs in each of the first two innings, then scored three runs in the third inning for a 5-0 lead. After the Indians (0-1) scored their lone run in the third inning to make it 5-1, Central scored once in the fourth inning and twice in the seventh inning.

For the game, Aidan Sainer was 4-for-5 with two doubles, two runs scored and a run batted in, Waylen Campbell was 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored, Paitton Merrill was 2-for-4 with two runs scored and an RBI and Kyle Harden was 2-for-4 with a run scored for Central.

Campbell (1-0) got the win, going the first 3.2 innings with five strikeouts. Hardy Buzzard went the final 2.2 innings with two Ks.

WEBBERS FALLS 14, ARKOMA 6

Monday afternoon in Arkoma, the Warriors (1-0), who trailed 6-0 after four innings, scored 10 runs in the fifth inning and four runs in the sixth inning to get the come-from-behind victory.

For the game, Brutus Robinson was 2-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two runs batted in, while Gunner Shelby doubled with two runs scored and an RBI for Webbers Falls.

Shelby (1-0) got the win in relief, going the final two innings with four strikeouts. Ryan Cowan started the game and lasted only 1.1 innings but had three Ks. Luke Pierce pitched 2.2 innings with four strikeouts.

MULDROW 15, WESTVILLE 2

Saturday afternoon in Muldrow, the John Rozell era got started the right way for the Bulldogs, who put away the game with a 10-run first inning. A five-run second inning put the game into run-rule status.

For the game, Wyatt Prewett was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs batted in and three runs scored, while Gabe Miller was 2-for-3 with a double, three RBIs and two runs scored for Muldrow.

Hayden McKinster (1-0) got the win, pitching a scoreless first inning with two strikeouts. Tripp Rozell pitched a scoreless second inning, then Jack Rhodes pitched the third and final inning with two Ks.

POTEAU 6, VIAN 5

Saturday at Poteau’s Town Creek Park, the Pirates (1-0) broke a 5-all tie on Caston Fox’s RBI double for a 6-5 lead for the Pirates.

The Wolverines (0-1) took a 1-0 lead on Michael Polecat’s RBI groundout in the first inning. Polecat’s sacrifice fly in the second inning doubled Vian’s advantage to 2-0.

After the Pirates took a 4-2 lead with a four-run fourth inning, the Wolverines cut the deficit to 4-3 in the fifth inning as Riley Ellis scored on a passed ball.

After the Pirates regained a 5-3 lead in their half of the fifth inning, the Wolverines tied the game at 5-all on a passed ball and Jeremiah Marshall’s bases-loaded walk in the sixth inning.

For the game, Draighton Fletcher doubled for Vian. Kaden Fulbright (0-1) suffered the loss in relief, going the final two innings but striking out three batters. Ellis started the game and went the first four innings with two Ks.

EDITOR’S NOTE: Gore’s season opener at home Monday afternoon against Roland was canceled due to the Runnin’ Rangers playing for the Class 3A Area Tournament title and a trip to state Friday night in Seminole. Also, the Pirates will entertain the Keota Lions at 4 p.m. Thursday.
