The Sallisaw Neighborhood Association (SNA) will meet at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Simple Simon’s Pizza. City Manager Brian Heverly will be the featured guest speaker at the meeting.

Heverly

Heverly will share updates on his work so far and discuss what’s ahead. He will also directly take questions, discuss topics of interest to the group and provide answers or followup as necessary.

Sallisaw Police Capt. John Weber and Ward 4 City Commissioner Brad Hamilton will also be present to provide updates, to follow up on any items brought forward at the February meeting and also take any questions.

For the April meeting, which will also be the annual business meeting, Weber will provide a special information session about police reports and how to request them. At the February meeting, Weber educated the group about the new body camera technology system the police department recently acquired and started using, as well as the different types of training sessions the officers have been involved in recently. SNA meetings provide a platform for all Sallisaw residents to voice concerns, stay informed and collaborate on community matters. The meetings are a great opportunity to see what the SNA is all about. Some of the bigger issues brought forward by residents and covered at past meetings were the animal ordinance, streets, sidewalk conditions, sidewalk project grants, leadership in the city, drainage/flooding concerns, storm sirens, public notifications, transparency and updates on major projects such as the pool complex and sports complex. Many of the issues identified have already been addressed or are in progress thanks to resident involvement and leadership engagement.

The SNA meets the third Monday each month. Arrive at 6 p.m. for food and conversation with fellow neighbors prior to the meeting, which begins at 6:30 p.m. To ensure food orders are ready upon your arrival, call ahead by 4 p.m.
