The church was started in March 1975 in Akins. Monroe Lowrimore pastored the congregation for 43 years before retiring. Bob Overton now serves as pastor.
The church moved from Akins to a new building on Fullbright Road just before Lowrimore retired. “We had everything paid for when I left,” Lowrimore says, “and left them quite a bit in the bank.”
“It’s been a good ride,” Overton says. “The Lord’s blessing us, and our church is growing.”
District Superintendent Dr. Darryl Wootton will be Sunday’s keynote speaker, and Lowrimore and other guests are also scheduled to speak at the special service.
