Former Vian player, OBU Bison take series from ECU, sweep SNU

Former Vian Lady Wolverines softball player Greenlee Wells and the Oklahoma Baptist University Bison took two of the three Great American Conference games from the host East Central University Tigers — splitting last Friday’s games as they won 7-5 in the nightcap after losing the opener 9-8, then winning Saturday’s rubber game of the series 9-1 in six innings.

In Friday’s win over ECU, Wells went 1-for-4 with a run scored, while going 1-for-3 with her seventh home run.

In Saturday’s victory, Wells was 1-for-3 with two runs batted in and a run scored.

On Tuesday, Wells and the Bison swept a home doubleheader from Southern Nazarene University, taking the opener 14-7 and winning the nightcap 5-4 in eight innings.

In the opener against SNU, Wells was 3-for-4 with a double and two runs scored, while going hitless in three at-bats in the nightcap.

Through 25 games, Wells is hitting .307 with five doubles, seven homers, 24 RBIs, 14 runs scored and five stolen bases.

Wells and the Bison (1411 overall, 9-2 in GAC play) will hit the road to meet Henderson State University today and Saturday in Arkadelphia, Ark. There will be a 2 p.m. doubleheader this afternoon, followed by a single game at noon Saturday.
